Ted was born in 1978 and is originally from Murray, Utah. He grew up there with his family playing soccer and golf. Ted met his wife when they were juniors in high school. He distinctly remembers the first time he saw her after she moved to his high school that year. They dated in high school and were married a few years later in 1999. They have four sons together who enjoy music, marching band, and soccer.

When Ted is not with his wife and kids, he still enjoys playing soccer and golf. One of Ted’s greatest passions is coaching. He has coached youth soccer for over 15 years and finds great joy in teaching life lessons to youth through organized sports. Ted is also heavily involved with his church’s youth group and has been for the past 10 years.

Ted studied business finance at the University of Utah and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2003. After his undergraduate studies, he founded and ran a small film production business with his brother until 2008. During that difficult economic time, Ted decided to go back to school to pursue a law degree. Ted graduated from the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2011.

Ted has practiced across a wide range of areas during his legal career. He has experience in the areas of criminal prosecution and defense, civil litigation, bankruptcy, real estate, estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, business transactional, and many others. Ted’s current legal practice focuses primarily on Estate Planning, Business Transactional, and Probate.

In 2020, changes were proposed to the legal rules of ethics in Arizona. Ted saw these changes as a possible opportunity to pursue a business vision he originally had while completing his undergraduate studies. Ted has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and is passionate about helping others succeed. Ted recognized that the proposed changes would allow him to create an entity that could focus on the complete financial well-being of his clients, assisting them with multiple business and financial services, including legal, tax, accounting, and financial planning.

Ted had previously met his current business partner, Mary Reha, though networking events in the Phoenix West Valley. When he discussed his vision with her, he quickly realized that their collective business visions were in direct alignment. Shortly after the Arizona Supreme Court approved and implemented the proposed rule changes in January of 2021, Arete Financial Solutions, LLC was born with Ted and Mary at the helm!

As the third licensed alternative business structure in Arizona, Arete Financial Solutions, LLC strives to provide complete financial well-being to all its clients through the provision of high-quality, affordable, and accessible financial services. Ted believes that this vision will allow thousands of businesses, individuals, and families meet and exceed their personal and business financial goals and will ultimately help make the communities where they live, work, and serve, rise together – Living the “Arete” way of life!
